It’s so nice to show up to a wedding day and see that everyone is cozy, relaxed, and ready let their day happen. Damon and Su are one of those sweet couples that planned every little detail, but when the day came, they just trusted that everything would happen as it was supposed to. We began at the Four Seasons where Damon and Su exchanged secret gifts and cards (that were written almost identically lol). Next, it was on to Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. All the florals and arrangements were gorgeous and the families couldn’t stop smiling in excitement. From what I hear this day was a long time coming, but time didn’t matter to Damon and Su, as long as they have each other. They exchanged their sentimental vows in front of their family and friends and then it was fun and games for the evening and the guests danced the night away. I saw some pretty interesting dance moves, too….but, well, I guess we had the full moon to blame that nightCongratulations Damon and Su! Photography: John and Joseph Photography
It was a chilly summer day in Santa Monica, a beautiful setting for Keila and Ronnie’s wedding at Casa Del Mar. It was a beautiful ceremony set up and the reception had such a great set up for all the guests to dance the night away with the City Connection Band and Vox DJ‘s. Everything was perfectly organized by Kelsey Events along with amazing florals by Luna Gardens. The Butterend provided that deliciously beautiful cake. And it was great working with Callaway Gable Photography on the day. It’s clear when a bride and groom are anxious to get married and celebrate with their guests..and Keila and Ronnie did just that…smiling from ear to ear all night. Congratulations Keila and Ronnie!
Amanda + Jeremy’s Wedding Trailer from Roatan Island, Honduras from Hoo Films | Shannon Avery on Vimeo.

Amanda and Jeremy’s guests were delivered a message in a bottle…an invitation that opened up as a scroll. Along with that, they were delivered a map to Roatan Island , with all the details of their Honduras destination wedding, where their friends and family would travel and witness their magical day. And what better place than this tiny little island to celebrate the most romantic, important day of their lives. So off to Roatan everyone went, with the first party stop being the French Keys, a little place with restaurants, bars, kayaking, riding horses in the water and swimming with jaguars….you know, normal stuff like that. There was this one ledge that everyone would line up to dive off into the water. Jeremy and his buddies were filming themselves and having a blast until…..oh, snap! That’s right, oh snap. After rushing Jeremy to two international hospitals, they wrapped his arm in a sling, and without any answers, assume he’s walking around with a broken arm. Talk about taking a hit the night before your wedding day. Poor guy was in so much pain the day of the wedding, but you know what, he handled it like a champ. Seriously. (Can you imagine being in that much pain and having to say hi to all your friends and family, smile, and hug, all while foregoing pain killers so you can make sense for that unforgettable ceremony moment?) I think the excitement and anticipation of marrying such a stunning bride must’ve give him all the comfort he needed. And stunning is an understatement. Amanda and her girls exchanged gifts and incredible words with each other as she got all dolled up. With those piercing blue eyes and a gorgeous smile, not much dolling up was really needed. Fighting back many, many tears of joy, Amanda put her gorgeous dress on and headed over to the balcony at Pristine Bay to marry the man of her dreams. The ceremony set up could not have been more beautifully arranged and the guests were just gleaming with excitement. The men even showed up crafting their own slings to support Jeremy and his poor arm. The vows these two exchanged….wow…just wow. Let’s just say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. This may have been one of the funniest, yet emotional ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed! These two are so in love, it just emulated throughout the day. It was clear each and every individual felt and shared the love on the island that day…and all throughout the night. Until one last surprise Jeremy had for his gorgeous bride…a firework show. We also had a blast shooting with Studio Moirae and can’t wait to see the photos from that day! What an amazing and joyous occasion this destination wedding was and I feel so honored to have been a part of documenting this undeniable love. Grab a tissue before clicking play on this Trailer!
The strangest cloud cover passed over on a summer day at Pelican Hill, setting the stage for a more than just pretty in pink wedding day. The arch, beautifully arranged by BloomBox Designs, featured a huge cross hanging in the middle to set the stage for Jori and Shane’s outside Catholic ceremony. The florals were all shades of ivory creating a classic feel on the lawn. The reception featured pink, pink, and more pink. Oh, and bows. The hanging floral chandelier and hanging cake were just gorgeous. Like I said, a gorgeous wedding set up and more than just pretty in pink. From the start of Jori putting on her pink Valentino’s, she was just glowing. Her and Shane have this unspoken deep love for each other and it was clear they were both filled with excitement and so much emotion. For cocktail hour they had an amazing bagpiper playing around the venue. Both families had such a blast and there were so many laughs in that reception…so many they just didn’t fit for this preview! All this flawless prettiness organized by Alicia, Details Details. It was a fun day working next to the talented Victor Sizemore Photography… also some beautiful processional music by Harpist, Erica Powell, cocktail hour by amazing bagpiper Eric Rigler, DJ Society Music and Sound. It was a great team and a fun day with this beautiful couple and their one true love. Enjoy Jori + Shane’s pretty in pink Trailer!
Madelyn and Charlie had friends and family come into town to celebrate their beautiful Pelican Hill wedding. Madelyn looked like a princess and Charlie made for one handsome groom. And what makes a groom even more handsome? When he gets emotional as his bride is walking down the aisle towards him. This might be my favorite moment throughout a wedding day. Charlie wiped his tears multiple times as his beautiful bride approached him. Madelyn looked perfect. The ceremony site had such a beautiful, classy look by White Lilac Inc. The amazing Alicia of Details Details did a great job making sure everything looked perfect and ran perfectly throughout the day. Check out Pat Moyer to see the photographs on the day. West Coast Music rocked the night and kept the crowd dancing as usual! Oh, and this Trailer starts off with a fun giggle. A little background before you hit play, Charlie is the owner of the fabulous accessory store Charming Charlie. Now, knowing that, you can laugh at the opening of Madelyn’s dad’s speech. Enjoy!
Courtney may be the first bride to call me and say that she will be surprising her groom with a sci-fi themed after party. And that’s when I knew this would be a fun couple for a Rancho Las Lomas wedding. From the start of their prep with shots of whiskey withGrandma to karaoke during the after party, Courtney and Kevin had a classy, vintage theme with a sweet sci-fi after party. Courtney looked gorgeous in her dress with the most stylish braid/bun combo in her hair. The decor looked superb thanks to Larissa with Inviting Occasion and Found Rentals. LVL Events were amazing on the day making sure everything ran smoothly. Courtney and Kevin could not have looked more in love and happy to share in such a special day…and lucky for them, they got to celebrate longer, as they were married on the longest day of the year! Congrats to Courtney and Kevin…Enjoy this fun Trailer!
Somewhere in the French Caribbean, we landed on the small island of Saint Martin (St. Martin, St. Maarten, St. Marten, depending on whether you are looking for the English, Dutch, or French spelling) for Ashley and Tom’s long awaited wedding week! St. Martin is small and has a dutch side and a french side….the smallest island to have to cultures co exist in that proximity. We adventured around and enjoyed many locations throughout the week. Our first stop, was the famous Sunrise Bar where people hang at the beach to watch the big planes land so closely overhead. It really is pretty surreal! People even hang behind the engines during take off and grip the fence so that they aren’t blown away! I even honestly saw a couple of people strolling along the beach just topple over when they weren’t paying attention. LOL. From there, we all went to a welcoming party where both families and all of us joined in for a champagne toast and relaxation. After that, it was time. Time for the big day. We began at a pristine rental home where Michele Bell did her thing getting Ashley all dolled up. I just loved the fish net vail, too! Tom was looking sharp in his sear sucker suit. Look out, this film has a cus word, too, thanks to Tom and his shocked reaction during the first look!I had to leave it in…because…well, it was real. From there, we headed over the Dreams for the ceremony out on the pier. Lucie Davis did an amazing job having everything on that small doc all set up perfectly. It was way out there and in the midst of some crazy wind out on the ocean! The scenery was beautiful though and the natural noise made you really feel like you’re on a secluded island together. Just us, just the wedding. Ashley and Tom’s vows are so sweet and real, it will be hard not to tear up on this one. The ceremony was just full of happy tears and genuine moments. Following the ceremony, we moved over to a private outdoor dining area at Dreams where their reception continued with an amazing dinner, ice cream cake with sparklers, and some hot fire dancers! Oh, and let’s not forget how much fun we had with the newlyweds and studiOsnap Photography at Pinel Island and Grand Case Beach Club having lunch, hiking, swimming, and shooting underwater footage into a dreamy sunset. Wow, what a week that was in Saint Martin…enjoy all the adventures in this French Caribbean destination wedding film!
I just adore these two. From the minute Stacy and I got on the phone, we just clicked. I knew Jackson had to be just as charismatic as Stacy is. And he was. Their charisma was hard to deny. When Stacy and Jackson were together they have such a captivating love and joy. They were both gleaming with excitement for the big day and everything came out beautifully. We were able to work with an amazing team on this one (list below) and you can find more on their day at US Weekly here! Such a romantic couple and I feel honored to have been able to be a part of this beautiful event. Enjoy their extended length Trailer…the vows were just so captivating, I had a hard time cutting it down…I loved every word exchanged between these two.
